Elizabeth Mulhern joined Offshore Theatre as a Committee member during the second half of 2012. During 2013 Elizabeth was asked by the Director Stephanie Mann, to be the Stage Manager for the Alan Ayckbourn play ‘Round and Round the Garden.’
During the 2013 committee elections, Elizabeth was nominated and took up the position as President of Offshore Theatre.
Elizabeth has had a holiday home on Phillip Island since 1983 and retired to the Island in 2008. In her life prior to retiring, Elizabeth was a Primary School teacher, Assistant Principal and Principal in various schools around Melbourne.
Elizabeth looks forward to the challenges our company has ahead, in the years to come. She plans to work with the committee to build upon the strengths that exist and also to increase our number of directors, actors, production team and Friends of Offshore Theatre. In essence she wishes to keep quality theatre productions, including the Radio Plays, being offered to the Phillip Island Theatre Community.
Sara Fleisner – Vice President
Sara was involved with local theatre as a much younger person, and returned to the fold to take part in Offshore’s Production of ‘H.M.S. Pinafore’. Since then she has directed two pantomimes for Offshore. ‘Robinson Crusoe’ and ‘Aladdin’. She has also been active on the Committee and as part of the production team and backstage crew. She hopes to do more directing, and may also pop up in radio plays at variois locations.
Ashley Reed – Treasurer
Ashley has performed with Offshore Theatre for over a decade in productions of ‘Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Verdict’, ‘Outside Edge’, ‘The Golden Legion of Cleaning Women’, ‘Table Manners’ and ‘Round and Round the Garden’. He most recently appeared in the 2014 radio play ‘Careful What You Wish For’. His roles have generally involved drunken characters notable for their unsuccessful womanising, where he has been able to hide his lack of talent by drawing on life experience.
Imelda Daly – Secretary
Imelda moved to Phillip Island permanently in December 2011 having been a holiday house owner for close to 20 years. Imelda has been a regular theatre goer for many years and joined Offshore Theatre’s production team in 2013, getting involved in Round and Round the Garden production.
She also maintains the website and contacts database keeping ”Friends of Offshore Theatre” up to date with activities through email newsletters. Imelda was elected to the role of Secretary at the 2014 AGM.
Simon Furniss – General Committee Member
Simon Furniss is originally from Cornwall in England but he and his family have lived on Phillip Island for the past eight years. Simon worked as a stagehand at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh for 5 years, then toured Spain in 1995 as a singer. Since joining Offshore Theatre he has taken part in several radio plays at the Phillip Island Winery, as well as playing Reg in ‘Table Manners’, and ‘Round and Round the Garden’.
Simon is currently rehearsing with the Wonthaggi Theatre Company for their upcomin production of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Joan Johnston – General Committee
Joan has been holidaying at Phillip Island for about 25 years and has owned a home here for about half that time. Joan worked in education for most of her adult life and has always been passionate about the arts. She has taught art and drama and has produced and directed many plays and musicals at the schools she has worked in.
Joan retired and moved down to live on the island in 2009 and is enjoying being involved with Offshore Theatre as a committee member, a director and any other roles as required.
